A medieval town in the heart of the Fragas del Eume.

Although the history of As Pontes dates back to prehistoric times, as evidenced by numerous archaeological sites that shape the Pontés landscape, it is in the 14th century that our town gains significance through the appointment of the individual who would give it its name, the feudal lord García Rodríguez de Valcárcel.

García would order the construction of a bridge over the Eume River, which would serve to control the passage of people and goods and establish a firm dominion over the extensive territory of Alto Eume.

More than 650 years later, As Pontes de García Rodríguez continues to proudly bear the name of its benefactor.
