Neighbourhood A Fraga

Neighbourhood A Fraga

A working-class neighbourhood with an European inspiration.
The need to shelter new families of workers from the mine exploitation, makes ENDESA build a second residential zone in the year 1974.

The residential model is based on architectural models from working-class neighbourhoods from the first quarter of the 20th century in Germany and Austria, but in a reduced scale. The architect in charge of the project is J.M. González.

The new neighbourhood has a total of 200 homes within an area of 2.7 ha. It has 25 buildings of 4 floors. There were two types of homes, with 3 and 5 bedrooms, with a living/dining room, kitchen with clothesline, bathroom and hall. The neighbourhood is designed in two lateral streets, including a car park, leaving the rest of the area for garden and leisure zones.
