New Fountain or Fountain of Isabel II
The fountain of A Vila.
This fountain was built in a natural spring supplying drinking water to the inhabitants of the historic “Vila”. People would go to the spring to drink, get water and even wash clothes.
In 1857 the parish cemetery was built of the land the spring was. It was in use until 1994, when the last human remains were taken away.
The fountain is situated on the stairs of entrance to the old cemetery. It has a representation of the shied¡¡ld of As Pontes de García Rodríguez and two shaking hands. Water flows through a lion face.
It is located on the old cemetery, next tot the bridge of Isabel II.
