Monument to workers

Monument to workers

This extraordinary monument dominates the square Carlos Fornos, in memory of all the workers of As Pontes.
The monument was built in 1994 in memory of Carlos Fornos, who was the president of Endesa in As Pontes, and a loving person in the village.

It is a triangular piece of 4 metres and a half wide and ten metres high, made of steel, bronze, copper and other alloy. It was made by craft workers Ramírez Casal by command of the Concello das Pontes.

There is a methacrylate plaque remembering all the workers in As Pontes, specially those who died working.

The work shows some naked people facing machines. There are mechanic elements pushing people, some of them with a style typical from Picasso.

The monument is in the Praza de Carlos Fornos.
