Monument to Enrique Rivera Rouco
Monument to the person who passed his passion for history to several generations of people from As Pontes.
Don Enrique, priest from Os Chaos, was a loving person in As Pontes. He was born in a farmer family in Os Chaos (As Pontes).
He was in love with history and made much research on the past of As Pontes de García Rodríguez, writing several articles and a book over the whole history of the council, “Estudio sobre la historia de Puentes de García Rodríguez y su comarca”, in 1976.
The monument was made by the sculptor Mario Valles Castro, from Pontevedra. We can see Don Enrique seated. The back is made of serpentine stone, and over the base there is a plaque.
The sculpture is located in the Rúa Presa de Alende, near the place where Don Enrique had been born.
