Church of Saint Mary of Espiñaredo

Church of Saint Mary of Espiñaredo

An avant-garde work on the top of Espiñaredo.
It is a new building designed to hold Eucharistic celebrations in the neighbourhood of Espiñaredo, with no church due to the expropriations and the mine of Endesa.

The temple was opened in 1990, being the architect César Olaiz García with the artist Xosé Luís Neira Borchs, and the collaboration of the sculptor Eleuterio Gordo.

It is an avant-garde work, with no decoration in order to give importance to parishioners. The space inside is divided into three equal parts, two of them devoted to gathering, and one for the high altar, being it in the central area, with no separation from the rest of the building. There are several murals and stained glass, standing out the representation of the Eye of God on the high altar.
