Joseba Muruzábal, aka Yoseba MP, is a very famous Galician artist. He is well-known for a series of murals about Galician women in rural areas. The series is entitled “Fenómenos delo rural” and in the murals women are represented as heroines in daily contexts.
Yoseba MP portraits in this mural “Carmen a da Depuradora”, who was 95 years old at that moment. Carmen had spent part of her life in the sewage plant house the company Campo Sotelo had to supply drinking water to the neighbourhood of As Veigas.
Carmen is painted over a water deposit in a house. Over her head she is carrying a basket full of mushrooms, making reference to the mushroom fair hold in As Pontes every year.
This mural is located in the Avenida de Galicia, in the number 76.
