Campo da Feira (Fair Field)

Campo da Feira (Fair Field)

The Fair Field is nowadays a green area for leisure and meeting for people in As Pontes.
The Campo da Feira (Fair Field) that we know today has its origins in the beginning of the 20th century. The land was property of the Ducal House of Alba and in 1902 Sergio Rivera Chao, neighbour from As Pontes, purchased the land from Esteban Cora. Permission is obtained to celebrate the fairs on the 1st and 15th of each month as well as to celebrate the Carmel festivities.

Sometime later the Fair Field became council property and in the 1970s the Town Hall, the Market (the current Mercado Vello) and a park were built on the land.

Between 2008 and 2017, the council carried out improvements in this green space. Its image was improved and furniture for children and adults was installed. These improvements caused the park to be a meeting and leisure place for all people in As Pontes .
