Mural "García Rodríguez de As Pontes" (García Rodríguez of As Pontes)

In this mural we can see García Rodríguez, from As Pontes, the nobleman who gives name to the village of As Pontes.
The mural represents the knight García Rodríguez Valcarce Valboa who obtained the village of As Pontes de Eume (or Ume) on the 30th of September in the year 1371, in reward for his services to the king.

García Rodríguez took part, on the side of Henry II, in one of the most important battles of the Middle Ages, the battle of Nájera. García was imprisoned on that battle. Due to his loyalty and what he suffered, the king gives to García Rodríguez the village of As Pontes de Eume, which will take the name of the nobleman.

The mural was made by Wedo Goás, and it represents García Rodríguez dressed with his armour.
