Church of Saint Mary of A Vilavella
A beautiful church from a big parish nowadys under the Lake.
The origin of the temple dates probably from the 13th century and it went over important restorations throughout time. It is built with one nave attached to the sacristy, entering this room through a portico. It has a fine façade made of granite stonework in a neoclassic style.
On the inside, there is an interesting baroque altarpiece with the statue of St Andrew, who was the recipient of the previous name. The parish complex is just what remains from a huge parish which used to comprise a big part of the valley of As Pontes, and which disappeared due to the exploitation of the lignite mine.
