Chapel of the Virgin on the oak
A chapel with a very old devotion to the Virgin.
The first hermitage had been built by a devoted family belonging to the parish. The oral tradition talked about the apparition of the Virgin on an oak in the place, and that from that place started to flow water, a place known nowadays as Fonte da Virxe.
The present-day building is a rebuilding from the beginning of the 20th century over a prior temple, probably from the 16th century, and is dedicated to the Virgin of “Ascension”, a festivity of Christ.
